Sciatica pain affects up to 40% of adults. While this pain can be solved on your own and often goes away after a short amount of time, some chiropractic treatment can help get you back to feeling more normal and improve muscle weakness.
What Is Sciatica Pain?

Your sciatic nerve is located in your lower back and branches through your hips, buttocks and down each leg. Although the nerve spreads through both sides of the lower half of your body it usually only affects one side. Sciatica pain can often go away with non-operative treatment in a few weeks, but those who have significant sciatica pain might be candidates for surgery.
Pain usually radiates through the lower body around your spine and buttocks and down the back of your leg. The pain can range from an ache to a sharp pain or even feel like an electric shock. Others may have numbness or tingling. If the pain lasts longer than a week, you should talk to your doctor.
Pain
The pain usually originates from a herniated disk or bone spur on the spine that can compress the nerve. The pinched or pressured nerve causes inflammation and numbness in the leg. Anything that irritates the sciatic nerve can cause pain.
Treatment
Chiropractic care can help you to regain muscle movement and ease the pain in your lower back and legs. Chiropractic care consists of spinal manipulation and other therapies to help relieve pain. A chiropractor will work with you to help identify the pain and talk about your health history. Then a specialized treatment will be developed which will usually involve stretches, applying controlled pressure to your joints or specific exercises that you can do at home. If your chiropractor feels that those are not enough, they may recommend nutrition or wellness education.
The most common condition for back pain is spinal conditions. Chiropractic treatment has more recently been tested and found to improve types of back pain. Spinal decompression is the biggest treatment we offer to help those with sciatica and other types of back pain.

With our spinal decompression you can get more relief without needing a surgical procedure. We gently stretch the spine to decompress the discs. This method helps our muscles to react and help release tension in the muscles. Laser decompression helps to heal inflammation and bring your discs and spine back into proper alignment. If you don’t have sciatica pain we offer other kinds of chiropractic relief. If you have been in an auto accident or have a sports injury we can help your body to resume its natural healing process and remove scar tissue.
